Friday Workday

Heidi has been so helpful to me. She helped clarify my schedule and helped me plan. It's so close to finals and Thanksgiving. We got our plumbing fixed.

Last night I wrote my Hist/of Photography essay. This morning I'm gathering scans and info for our group presentation. This afternoon, Heidi the kids and I are going to the San Antonio Museum of Art so that I can observe first-hand some Asian art. I then have to prepare two critiques 3 pages each about two works.

Gotta go.

Tim LaHaye on Take A Stand with Adam McManus-Rapture/Trib. Thoughts

On the way home today I was listening to KSLR 630AM. Tim LaHaye was being interviewed by Adam McManus on the Take a Stand show. I have been enjoying this program broadcasted out of San Antonio for the past 6 months or so.

They were discussing and taking calls about LaHayes' new book The Regime. Many callers, of course, wanted to discuss topics about the rapture and the tribulation. The Left Behind series illustrates the rapture happening before the tribulation.

I would like to comment my views on this issue.

First let me paint this picture. In Daniel 9 and in Revelation, we hear about a 7 year period that is divided into two 3.5 year periods. The seven years begin when the Antichrist-unrevealed makes a treaty with Israel. At the middle of this 3.5 years, he reveals his true nature and demands worship. Anyone who refuses to submit, he will attempt to erradicate. He will attack Jews and Christians with zeal and passion and Scriptures say that God has allowed him victory for a season of time, the second 3.5 years of the seven or most likely, a little less. This is the time Jesus refers to when he says it will be a time unparrelled in history. It will begin when the Antichrist or his idol will be placed in the temple and claim to be higher than God. Never before will the world have witnesses such large scale terror. Again, the primary target will be Jews and Christians. At the end of this period, 3.5 years or less (Jesus talks about cutting this time short for the sake of the elect), God will begin his punishment of the Antichrist and his kingdom. So get this, the first 3.5 years are peaceful, then the next phase if utter attack on God's people, and tHEN God will release his justice with vengence...this is God's wrath.

Many, like Tim LaHaye, believe God will remove the Church from the world scene by the rapture before these 7 years begin, that is, before the covenant with Israel is made.

One major verse the people of this view quote is 1 Thessalonians 5:9

9For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

This is where I will go off.....khmm...

What is this wrath? Many assume it is the whole 7 year period. BUT, the FIRST 3.5 YEARS ARE PEACEFUL! So is this wrath the period of time when Antichrist is vehemently killing Christians and a massive wave of persecution against Christians arises? Many would think this is "Wrath", but this is the persecution. Christians, honestly, it is my understanding from reading the Scriptures that God rarely removes his people from trouble and persecution. The pattern is that God lets us walk through the trouble and protects us in the midst of it. Think of Joseph in Egypt, Jeremiah in the muddy well, Job losing all he loves, Paul in prison, Jesus on the cross, the first few hundred years of the Church being persecuted, many Christians today being martyred, and do we think that God will take us away before this great opportunity to test our faith to see who is really commited to him? I don't think so. It is my view that God will walk with us through this time of intense persecution. I believe the Wrath mentioned above is God's wrath on the ungodly and on the Antichrist kingdom that has ripened and chosen wholeheartedly to kill God's people and worship a demonized man instead. God's people will be spared from God's wrath, not Satans persecution. Come on, when has God taken people away from Satan's persecution. Yes, he protects us. Yes, he gives us victories, but God's people have always been those who walk through the trials and come out victorious. It is more rare that God would simply let us be absent and stay at home from school on the hard test day of the persecution.

A word of contemplation. I have heard some say this, that the story of the Egypt exodus is a picture of the last day conflict between God and his people versus the Antichrist. There are many parallells. In the Exodus case, God's people were not removed from the persecution of Pharoah(Satan/Antichrist), neither were they completely removed from the wrath of God, they were in the same area, but they found a place of refuge in the midst of God's plagues in a place called Goshen. They were around to watch God make a distiction between his suffering people and the Godless oppressive kingdom as God's wrath demolished Egypt.

To not be aware of the future, means we are not prepared for the future, I think. So lets prepare for the Glory of God and the persecution of Satan. God wins. We win if we don't give up.

RollingStone Article on Dover Intelligent Design Trial

Darwinian Warfare
In a Pennsylvania courtroom, America can't get the monkey off its back By MATT TAIBBI

It's a little long and seems like it's putting down Christians, but it makes some insightful points about what this trial was actually about.

It's main point is that our culture has been lying to itself saying that Evolution and Materialism science teachings can coexist with belief in God. It says that some day in the future a fork in the road will eventually be drawn where the truth comes out: that the Darwinist movement bears a deliberate hatred of Religion and God and is not neutral on this subject as many would politely yet falsely claim, belittling the intelligence of Christians.

Bye Bye Ray

I said good-bye to a great friend, Ray Avina, who just left the shelter. While staying there we became friends. Last night while I was working at the girls-house, he came by to say goodbye. We spoke and almost cried, but you know, we're guys so we held some of it in. He'll be living in San Antonio and will soon have a car and independence. We're suppose to go to a club called the Battlegrounds in San Antonio. Mosty, it would just be great to know how he's doing, and to see him again. Send a prayer his way, he's a poetic rapper who writes about his painful experienes and how he's using them in a positive way. He's got talent and he's a leader for sure.

Boo Hoo

Things haven't been easy around here. If you would like, please keep us in prayer. Here is a list of my grievances:
  1. I missed registration for the Spring Semester. I will have to late register on Jan. 9th.
  2. Our kitchen sink is clogged and today I went crawling under the house in cobwebs and dirt to see what I could do and I think I created another leak in the process.
  3. It's near the end of the semester and I have a project for each of the four classes due. Asian Art History- Write 2 Critical Reviews of Asian art after visiting a Museum. History of Photography- I have to research Russell Lee, FSA photographer, help write a group report and get a group presentation ready. Painting 7- Senior Show and work needs to be turned in before Thanksgiving break. Latin American Art History- pick at theme and find 10 Latin American works of art and write a review about why you have chosen them and how they link together.
  4. I make little money and our spending is to high. I hate credit card debt. Read above plumbing problems that will cost money to repair.
  5. Our cars are dirty and need cleaning and oil changes.
I'm working full-time, going to school full-time, have two kids and a wife that I wish I could spend more time with.

Anyhow, pray for us. I've been prophesying to myself the opposite of what I feel. When all the swirling worries and pressure and discouragement come, I've been trying to speak and remember God's promises and prophesy the opposite of all these heavy fears.

If anyone wants to encourage me, please do. Thanks.

Maybe you're one of those people that feels encouraged to know you're not the only one going through tough times. If so, I hope your encouraged. If not, I hope I didn't bring you down. But it would be your fault for reading this far because you're nosey.

Bye.

Texas Marriage Amendment - Proposition 2 Banning Same-Sex Marriage

Texas Marriage Amendment - Proposition 2 - Text of HJR 6 also known as the Texas Marriage Amendment or Proposition 2 Banning Same-Sex Marriage

To Texans and others I write. Late after the fact. After all votes have been cast.

I have gay friends. I care about their happiness.

The Bible and the God of the Bible says sodomy is a sin and marriage is sacred. I cannot combine the two.

So I was asked to keep God and Government seperate. To not vote what I believe. In history I record my name. I voted this way.

I wonder who spoke up when prayer was removed from public school. And the Bible too. Immorallity has blossomed since those days. And we praise our new freedoms. I've seen to many die and dying. We applaud our freedom.

Sacred this is to me. I vote. I am and believe and vote my voice. Democracy is only as strong as each individual persons heart within that union. We either fly or sink based on our hearts, voices and decisions of each individual.

Recorded I am. I believe in God. Who ordains goverment and marriage. I will not lie to either.

About my friends. Casualties of life. Finding our ways. We are not our own. I answer first to the breath-giver. Happiness must bow to the Truth and wait for its proper place.

So Here I Am

A pause during a class, studied Mexican art and cosmic races. A break to sit and think and so I write. Apology for my absence, no excuse. I've been seeking my heart, a poetic way to say I haven't felt very found. A searching.

I want to find again the rock, the seperation of me from all. The impenetrable seperation between world and I that I'm ok to stand alone in.

I've been flowing, a little dripping. I want to increase the water in my life to moisten the clay. I feel worked and pressed. Moisten me Lord.

Simple family rock. Finding a rocketship to fly on. Alone together. A shelter to combat the world, no, a rainbow to drink from, that illumines the night so that we can walk under the stars and watch the sunrise.
